Three Years in Holy Cross

I am glad to inform you that today marks the 3rd anniversary of me being at Holy Cross, Catford. On 10 October 2018 I arrived in Catford with a broken knee and broken ribs following the unfortunate car accident I was involved in early September. I gratefully remember your prayers and support in that time of need.
Over the 36 months, almost half of the time has been spent in the Coronavirus Pandemic. It was a bleak and uncertain time for us, however, we did not waste the time doing nothing. We took the opportunity to do all the necessary building works and took care of one another, especially the needy. Every morning throughout the Pandemic, an eight minute Morning Blessing was recorded and sent to more than 1000 people and we have continued doing the 9pm Monestary [the Night Prayer of the Church] via Zoom.
It has been a great blessing during the lockdowns that the Mass was livestreamed everyday and the recorded Mass was sent to people via the social media. The livestream is still available for the housebound. Please use this link to view and participate in the Mass and the celebration of the sacraments: Angelcam | Live video from Holy Cross Stream camera (click2stream.com)

What is Next?
Just before the Pandemic, our Parish Council members stepped down after completing their term. We gratefully remember all their commitment and goodwill. A few had served more than 20 years as members of the Parish Council. We shall honour them in due course in our parish after the Pandemic is over.
Now it is time for us to have a new Parish Council. According to the diocesan guidelines, we will also have teams for Formation, Catechises and Evangelisation.
The members have been chosen for these teams and now they are ready to begin. If anyone would like to join, please put your name forward or suggest anyone who is willing to serve in this role.
Once again, many thanks for your prayers, friendship and support these last three years. It has been a hectic time for me as a lot of time was spent on the building works. I hope and pray that it will again become a hectic time to reinvigorate our Parish community. With the help of God and the support of God’s people, we can build God’s kingdom in our midst.

Please be assured of my warmest best wishes and prayers

Yours in Christ
Fr Antony
