URGENT: COVID-19 Update->ALL PARISH ACTIVITIES ARE SUSPENDED - Holy Cross Church is OPEN
The latest document is an information letter from the Archbishop of Southwark

  • Overcome Temptations My friend, in this weekend’s Gospel reading, we learn the temptations of Jesus in the wilderness for forty days. It does not mean that he was never again tempted. Jesus was also tempted in different times of his life. For example, in the garden of Gethsemane before his Passion, he prayed: “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” [Luke 22:42(New Living Translation)]. It was in a way a temptation to escape suffering and death. It tells us the fact that temptations are part and parcel of our whole life. Jesus gives us the model to overcome the temptations by Fasting, Prayer and Works of Charity towards the people who are unwanted, unloved and uncared for.

OUR PARISH RESPONSE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC - Updates
