Hartley Hall

Our parish community centre, Hartley Hall, opened in 2002. For years the parish had longed for a hall that would be fully accessible to everyone and accommodate the growing variety of spiritual, educational and social activities of the parish, as well as offering a welcome to the local community. The dream became a reality in 2000, when Mary Hartley died leaving her home to be sold to provide funds for the building of a new centre. She had been born and baptised into the parish of Holy Cross in 1908, and lived here most of her life. Her long-term friend Canon Mark Diamond gave her home to the parish. Inspired by such an extraordinary gift, the parish raised the remaining money needed to build the centre from a combination of private gifts, grants, from trusts and a variety of special fundraising events and activities.

BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING EVER
On Friday 3rd October, the usual coffee morning session will be extended to finish at 11 o’clock. All funds raised from the event will be donated to the MacMillan Cancer Support Charity.
Any contributions including cakes and raffle prizes would be greatly appreciated. Please bring along on the day. It would be great to see as many people as possible to support this worthy cause.

DRUMMING WORKSHOP
The 18-30 group (youth group) will have a drumming workshop on Saturday 25th October from 12-4.00pm in Hartley Hall. Young people between the ages of 16-30 are invited to take part and beginners are welcome. For more information please contact Ogoo on 07944002236.

CELEBRATING AGE
On Sunday 26th October, the older members of the Parish will be represented at the 10am Mass. They will then host the coffee morning in Hartley Hall, where there will be a raffle and a cake sale. Please take the opportunity to join them. Everybody is welcome.

SPONSORED WALK
The youth group have organised a sponsored walk, which will take place on Saturday 4th October. The walk begins in Blackheath at 11am, and the finish line will be Hartley Hall, where refreshments will be served. All funds raised go to our Twinning project in Grenada. If you would like to take part or sponsor somebody please contact Ogoo on 07944002236.

DRAMA WORKSHOP
There will be a drama workshop on Sunday 5th October in Hartley Hall beginning at 2pm. It is for young people aged 11-16 who are keen on acting, singing, reading or able to help with a variety of backstage support. We hope to produce a drama project coming up to Christmas. If you would like to be involved then do come along. Rehearsals will be on Thursday evenings from 6.30-8.30pm.
