PRAYER BOOKS FOR THE PAPAL VISIT
Prayer books are now available for a minimum donation of £1. They will assist you to participate in the events of his visit whether you are attending, or watching on the TV or listening on the radio or simply being in a quiet space of your own. This is additional material to enrich your normal prayer life.
RACIAL JUSTICE
Next weekend, there will be a second collection for the Catholic Association for Racial Justice
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION COURSE
The next preparation course for Baptism will be on September 11/18 & 25th. It will take place in Hartley Hall from 10am -11.30am. If you wish to attend this course, please make an appointment to see Fr Doug.
ALTAR SERVERS
We will be running a servers’ club next term, starting on Saturday 25th September at 5.30 p.m. There will be an opportunities for our current servers to further improve their practice (if that’s possible!) and also for anyone interested in starting to serve to learn the ropes!
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION 2011
If your child wishes to begin receiving Holy Communion in 2011, please take and complete a form from the back of the church and bring it along to the introductory session which will be in the Hartley Hall on Tuesday 14th Sep at 8p.m..
APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS
If you have one hour to spare on a Thursday morning between 10am and 11am, we need some more volunteers to join our team of church cleaners. You do not have to commit to cleaning every week and we welcome male and female helpers. If you can help, please come along and introduce yourself any Thursday morning after Mass. Thank you!
HOLY LAND PILGRIMAGE 2011
Would you like to make a Pilgrimage to the Holy Land for 8 days in early November 2011? The price would be under £1000, (depending on numbers), all inclusive. At this stage, we need to know how many of you MIGHT be interested, so please add your name and telephone number to the list on the noticeboards. (This is not a commitment, merely an indication that you might come.) We would be running the pilgrimage jointly with Sydenham Parish. Further details in due course.
RCIA
This group will resume on Monday 6th September 8.00-9.00pm in Hartley Hall. It is primarily for adults who wish to be baptised, or may wish to be received into full communion with the Catholic Church. If you know anyone who is asking questions about the Church or wishes to deepen their faith in some way, please encourage them to come along on the 6th September.
HOLY CROSS YOUTH GROUP
If you would like to be informed of all activities for young people in Holy Cross Parish, the Adult committee for Youth (ACY) will email you information from time to time. CENTERING PRAYER
Centering prayer will resume in Hartley Hall on Thursday 2nd September.
UNDERSTANDING ISLAM
On Thursday 23rd September at 7.30pm, we will begin a series of ten two-hour sessions in Hartley Hall entitled ‘Understanding Islam’. This highly regarded course will be given by Dr Chris Hewer, who has been involved in the study of Islam and active in Christian-Muslim relations since 1986. DOWRY OF MARY PILGRIMAGE
In preparation for the visit of Pope Benedict to the UK “Heart speaks unto heart” the Dowry of Mary Pilgrimage will take place at Walsingham on Sunday 12th September 2010 and will be led by his Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy O’Connor. For more information see poster.

MALTA DAY – UK 2010
This will take place on Saturday 11th September in Westminster Cathedral Hall, Ambroseden Avenue from 10am to 2.00pm. Malta Day – UK is an annual celebration organised every September by the Malta High Commission and the Maltese people in Great Britain to mark the National Day of Malta. Since it was first organised in 2001 Malta Day- UK has increased in popularity and also attracted persons of other nationalities.
