Bishop Patrick Lynch’s Pastoral Visit to our Parish: We welcome Bishop Patrick who will be in our parish for three days this week. On Friday, he will visit Holy Cross school [10am], offer a funeral Mass [11.30am], and visit the sick and the housebound [from 3pm]. On Saturday, he will minister the Sacrament of Confirmation [11.30am], and in the afternoon he will meet with the parish priest to sign parish registers and meet the Finance Committee members. He will meet with extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, readers, members of church cleaning and decoration team, SVP members, catechists, leaders of altar servers, welcoming ministers, sacristans, representatives of Diamond Club and TTT, UCM, and everyone who wishes to have a chat with him regarding our parish, in Hartley Hall from 4pm. He will also meet members of Parish Council [Saturday 5pm at Hartley Hall]. He will preside over and preach at all weekened Masses. Bishop Patrick says, “A parish visitation is not an examination. It is an opportunity for the Bishop to listen and learn, to advise and suggest and most of all to affirm how a parish might grow as a community of faith and mission. An essential element of the process is praying with, meeting with and talking to the people of the parish...”
Message for the Fourth Sunday of Easter World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life
My dear brothers and sisters,
Today is the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life. Please particularly pray this week that those God our Father is calling to ministry in the Church may have the listening ear to discern that call. This is the first step on a journey, but obviously not the last. Pope Francis has entitled his Vocations Day message this year “The courage to take a risk for God’s promise”, as responding to our ‘Vocational Call’ from God can be a risky venture; as we must let go and trust in Him. That promise, the Gospel Good News, needs all Christian people to bear it to the world, but especially those in Holy Orders and the Religious Life.
This diocese has been fortunate over the years to have been blessed with many priests from different backgrounds and cultures… In the Gospel today we heard that Jesus said “The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice” – in a special way the priest both listens to that voice and also speaks with that voice. Without priests that voice can become muted or even unheard.
I would ask you to pray for your own Clergy and Religious, who dedicate their lives to service of God and the Church.
To pray for the inspiration to see where God is calling you in your life.
And to pray for wisdom, to recognise those who need encouragement to consider Religious Life or Ordination.
With an assurance of my prayers,
+Peter

A warm welcome to Bishop Nazarene Soosai, Bishop of Kottar, India, who will be in our parish for a few days this week and will concelebrate the Confimation Mass with Bishop Patrick on Saturday.
Baptism Course The next Baptism courses will take place on Saturdays, 18th and 25th of May, 10am -11.30am in Hartley Hall.  If you have already submitted your application to the parish office, you are invited to attend either of the Baptism courses, and we look forward to seeing you.  If you have any queries, please contact Fr Antony.
