MINISTRY OF WELCOME
As part of our Baptism and Christian heritage we all have a responsibility to welcome the stranger and offer hospitality. If you are a welcomer or have thought about finding out about the Ministry of Welcome, please note the date, Saturday 2nd March, 10am - 2.30pm Hartley Hall. There will be a formation/training day for all those interested. The day will be of interest to all involved in sacramental preparation and outreach within our community. If you cannot make the whole day come for part of it. For more details see the Posters in the entrances, or take a flier from one of our Welcomers at the end of Mass.
PARISH OFFICE
Mary Baldwin our parish Secretary has had to resign from her post because of her personal commitments. We have no one in the parish office at the moment so if you wish to make contact please email or leave a phone message. In the short term we will look for some volunteer coverage during the week. If you feel you can help do please speak to Fr. Antony.

READERS
A very successful day for Readers was held last week with twenty of our readers. A period of Eucharistic exposition and adoration set the scene followed by a stimulating presentation on the ministry of Reader by Piero Finaldi. Rob Dunbar is the co-ordinator for all readers and he should be contacted if are interested in undertaking training / formation to be a reader.
LEWISHAM DEANERY SPIRITUAL PILGRIMAGE
The next two events in the Deanery Spiritual Pilgrimage is a follow up to the Adoremus Eucharistic Congress in Liverpool, at Our Lady and St Philip Neri, Sydenham, on Friday 1st March at 7.30pm. There will be an opportunity to meet with others from across the deanery after the presentation over refreshments.
Our Lady of Lourdes, Lee are holding a men's morning event especially March 16th   10.30 am to 12.30 pm “Men as spiritual Leaders.” The morning will link to some of the output from the Adoremus Eucharistic Congress held in Liverpool in September last year.
HUMANAE VITAE STUDY GROUP.
Join the Catholic Mothers Apostolate study group every Thursday 10.30 am-12 pm in the Diamond Room. This year the group will have the opportunity to spend some time studying Humane Vitae. The key message of this document is understanding the inseparable dependency of authentic love and truth in human relationships. This is Pope Paul VI’s long-awaited and 'controversial' encyclical explaining the beauty of marriage and the sanctity of human life within that bond. This study is important because it addresses many questions modern Catholics have battled in today's culture dealing with human love in relationships. It is an important topic to discuss and a great resource in understanding why the Church so strongly guides us towards honouring our dignity within intimate relationships and God's very hand in procreation. Email us at [email protected] for more info or just turn up on the day!
RACIAL JUSTICE SUNDAY
There is a collection to support the work of the Catholic Church to promote racial justice in our schools, parishes and in the wider society.
PARISH COUNCIL
The Parish Council meets on Tuesday 26th February at 8pm, when members will look at plans for Lent and the coming year and see how we can continue to make Holy Cross more responsive to the needs of our parish and local community.

REFLECTION
The prophet Jeremiah minces no words in today’s first reading: “Thus says the LORD: Cursed is the one who trusts in human beings ... whose heart turns away from the LORD.” And the prophet’s “beatitude” resembles that of Jesus’ teaching in today’s Gospel reading when he proclaims: “Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose hope is the LORD.” Good stewards understand that what the world values is not consistent with Gospel values. They realize that God has placed in their midst all the gifts, charisms, and resources needed to bring Christ to a world desperately in need of his loving presence. But to exercise good stewardship over God’s gifts takes a great deal of trust. How does our stewardship reflect our trust in the Lord? What did we do today to give others hope in Christ Jesus?
MASS INTENTIONS
There are brown envelopes available in the church to request for Masses for your loved ones anniversaries, birthdays, get well wishes, exam success and thanksgiving.

Bible Verse to Remember: Rejoice and be glad:
your reward will be great in heaven[Luke 6:23].
