Dear Parishioner,
Today, Jesus calls Peter, James and John to help him fish. Their reaction amazing! These three, Jewish, commercial fishermen had the catch of their lives - their biggest profit ever lay ahead. But Jesus calls them to become ‘fishers-of-men’. They neither protest nor ask to first sell the fish. They immediately leave their nets.
These three would become the inner circle of the Twelve. The trio that would be with him when he would raise Jairus’ daughter to life, when he would be transfigured on Mt. Tabor, when he would be on the mount of olives the night before he was killed. Evidently, the men did show some fear because Jesus counselled them not to be afraid. They courageously accept Jesus’ offer. What charisma Jesus must have had! The time had come in Jesus’ life to put out into the deep waters of Israel and the world and begin, like a fisherman, to lure people into the kingdom of his father.
God is love; Jesus is love made flesh and he calls us - as he called Peter, James and John - into a personal relationship with himself and his father and the holy spirit. When he lures us with his love, we are moved to return his love with our love; we are hooked – as the great fisherman wants us to be.

- Mass offering [loose collection]: £442
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity
- Manna Mission: As Lewisham Borough is one of the places in the UK where Covid cases had reached record highs, we have postponed our Manna Mission until further notice. If you know of anyone in need however, please let the parish office know.
- Visiting Home: Fr Antony was expected back early this last week but, due to his mother’s condition and that he might not see her for several more years, has agreed to stay one further week. Please keep Fr Antony and especially his mother in your prayers. He has now booked his flight to return on this Tuesday (8th Feb). In his absence, Fr Clive and priests from Brockley are offering the Masses. Fr Antony can still be contacted by email and WhatsApp.
Please take a copy of the Newsletter home with you - please do not leave it in the church. Thank you.

- With respect to the current situation with the omicron variant it is important to ensure the following points are followed in our churches:
- That people displaying any symptoms of covid-19 should stay at home and not travel to church or participate in person.
- That hand sanitiser is used by everyone attending the Church.
- Concerning face masks, some form of face covering will be required in most public indoor venues, including places of worship. However, exemptions exist for various reasons: legitimate health reasons, as has always been the case.
- That there is good ventilation and air throughput in the building; in this case, because of climatic conditions, please do wrap up warmly when coming to the church as we may need to leave doors open.
- That a positive message encouraging people to get vaccinated and have the booster jab, when able, is delivered whenever possible.
- That people who are engaged in a form of pastoral ministry which involves ministry to the housebound, sick, and vulnerable, should take regular lateral flow tests to ensure they are safe to do so. These are free from the NHS.
- The Holy Mass is offered everyday via Livestream
