URGENT: COVID-19 Update->ALL PARISH ACTIVITIES ARE SUSPENDED - Holy Cross Church is OPEN
The latest document is an information letter from the Archbishop of Southwark

OUR PARISH RESPONSE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC - Updates

  • Holy Mass in Church: “...None of us would want to be in the situation in which we find ourselves. While the live-streaming of the Mass and other devotions is playing an important part in maintaining the life of faith, there is no substitute for Catholics being able to physically attend and participate in the celebration of the Mass and the other sacraments. Our faith is expressed powerfully and beautifully though ‘seeing, touching, and tasting.’ We know that every bishop and every priest recognise the pain of Catholics who, at present, cannot pray in church or receive the sacraments. This weighs heavily on our hearts. We are deeply moved by the Eucharistic yearning expressed by so many members of the faithful. We thank you sincerely for your love for the Lord Jesus, present in the sacraments and supremely so in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The bishops and priests of every diocese are remembering you and your loved ones at Mass each day in our churches as we pray ‘in hope of health and well- being.’ We thank our priests for this faithfulness to their calling...” [the Metropolitan Archbishops].

  • Please note that the Mass times have been reviewed : See below (Mass Times and Intentions)
All the Masses will be live-streamed: https://holy-cross-stream.click2stream.com

Please Note: with the new regulations, we will only be able to hold up to 40 people in the church. We shall follow a “First Come, First Served” rule. Since the obligation to participate the Holy Mass on Sundays is still suspended, please consider attending on weekdays with your family members so that those who cannot make it on weekdays can come during the weekends. Please wear a face mask, sanitise your hands and keep a sufficient distance always in the church. Kindly follow the guidance of Welcome Ministers. Looking forward to seeing you.

  • Holy Sacraments at Holy Cross
* From February, classes will be via Zoom.
* From 17th April (after the Easter holidays) we hope to have regular classes at Hartley Hall.
* In October, we shall have the celebrations of the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

  • School Applications:
Fr Antony will be available in the Church every Monday and Friday between 10:00 and 10:15 am to discuss your School Application Supplementary Forms.
Please use the side door adjacent to Holy Cross School [only via Culverley Road entrance], as the main doors of the church will remain locked during the Pandemic.

  • Baptism Preparation Course: As our parish continues to be affected in our usual pastoral activities and sacramental preparation courses, we will be offering an adaptive baptism course via zoom for all parents whose children were baptised last year. The first session will be on Saturday 13th February at 2;30pm and the second session will follow on Saturday 20th February 2020 at 2:30pm. The links will be emailed to all parents who have already been contacted. Future baptism preparation courses will be announced in due course. If you would like to have your child baptised please contact father Anthony.

  • Ash Wednesday will be on the 17th of February. The ashes will be distributed during the Masses according to the guidance of the Bishops.

  • Lent is a transition time, a time to look honestly at our journey of faith as we walk with Jesus to the cross. Jesus’s wilderness experience was a pivotal moment in his journey and his extended period of temptation was a profound time, which would determine how he would move forward. Jesus faced himself, and his willingness to stay true to God’s path.
  1. How can we allow this Lent period to be a time of looking honestly at our journey of faith and our willingness to say YES to God.
  2. During this week, take some time to reflect upon the things that fill your heart.
  3. Does your heart belong to God, or are you easily led by other distractions.
  4. In what ways is Jesus your bread of life?

  • The Holy Mass is offered everyday  via Livestream
