Dear Parishioner,

Synod of Synodality - Holy Cross Parish Response Summary Report
Eight Synod Listening Sessions took place in the Parish in October and November 2021, including one online. Notes were taken at each and, after the last session, were combined and recurring themes were pulled out to produce the final document. These themes were COMMUNION, PARTICIPATION & MISSION. For the full version please see the online Parish Newsletter or parish website.
Notes on the pandemic:
 Many noted that the pandemic brought us together in new and different ways, including online.
 Others felt strongly that online meetings were no replacement for face to face.
 Everyone missed coming together, physically for the Eucharist.
 Some felt strongly that the Church did not do enough to fight to stay open during the pandemic lockdown periods.
 Many felt the pandemic was an opportunity for reflection on how and why we do things, and an opportunity for change.
You can still respond to the consultation up to the 18th February 2022 if you wish to. This is done via the diocesan website:-

Fr Antony

  • Mass offering [loose collection]: £472
Altar Servers’ Albs: Total so far £845
Thank you all for your kindness and generosity

  • Manna Mission: As Lewisham Borough is one of the places in the UK where Covid cases had reached record highs, we have postponed our Manna Mission until further notice. If you know of anyone in need however, please let the parish office know.

  • Visiting Home: Fr Antony finally arrived at his home after 36 hours of travel. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. In his absence, Fr Clive and priests from Brockley are offering the Masses. Fr Antony can be still contacted by email and WhatsApp.

  • Our Newsletter is available by visiting our webpage with updates on how and when to register for the sacraments of Baptism, Holy Communion, Confirmation and RCIA
Please take a copy of the Newsletter home with you - please do not leave it in the church. Thank you.

OUR PARISH RESPONSE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC - Updates

URGENT: COVID-19 Update-> Holy Cross Church is CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
COVID SECURITY GUIDELINES : Following the recent changes(Friday 10 dec) in the regulations from the Government, the parish has issued updated guidelines for continued safe and covid-secure worship in the church. The latest document is Guidances for Churches December 2021

  • Please note that the Mass times have been reviewed : See below (Mass Times and Intentions)
All the Masses will be live-streamed: https://holy-cross-stream.click2stream.com

  • With respect to the current situation with the omicron variant it is important to ensure the following points are followed in our churches:
  • That people displaying any symptoms of covid-19 should stay at home and not travel to church or participate in person.

  • That hand sanitiser is used by everyone attending the Church.

  • Concerning face masks, some form of face covering will be required in most public indoor venues, including places of worship. However, exemptions exist for various reasons: legitimate health reasons, as has always been the case.

  • That there is good ventilation and air throughput in the building; in this case, because of climatic conditions, please do wrap up warmly when coming to the church as we may need to leave doors open.

  • That a positive message encouraging people to get vaccinated and have the booster jab, when able, is delivered whenever possible.

  • That people who are engaged in a form of pastoral ministry which involves ministry to the housebound, sick, and vulnerable, should take regular lateral flow tests to ensure they are safe to do so. These are free from the NHS.

  • The Holy Mass is offered everyday  via Livestream

  • Diamond Club Magazine is available here
