MESSAGE FROM FR DOUG
This
weekend we look forward to the New Year and all the blessings it may bring but
we also look back and give thanks for the joys of the old. Permit me to express
a few words of thanks on behalf of you all:
to
the Parish Council, its chairman and secretary and to all the parish groups and
activity that they lead or coordinate - including the catechist teams for
baptism, first holy communion, confirmation, children’s liturgies and RCIA, our
treasurer, gift aid organiser and buildings manager, our Christmas fayre
organiser and her team and our offertory collection counters, our welcome teams
at masses and coffee morning organisers, our Ghana mission team, the SVP teams,
the CAFOD rep and our Missio rep, our Hartley Hall committee and staff, our
Diamond club leader and helpers, our parent and toddler group leader and
helpers, the UCM and the Catholic mothers, the home visiting team, the school
signing-in volunteers and our school foundation governors, our Jack Petchey rep
and our uniformed youth group leaders, our altar servers, the church care team,
the flower lady, the crib builder, the Christmas tree team, the organists,
cantors and the band, our Eucharistic ministers, shop staff and sacristans, the
parish office manager, the parish registers keeper, the safeguarding team and
the information officer who built our splendid new website…..
and
indeed everyone who has taken part in our parish activity and helped to carry
our mission forward.
BAPTISMAL PREPARATION
CLASSES
The
next one will be in January. Please complete an application form (these are
situated at the back of the church). Attach a COPY of the long version of your
child’s BIRTH certificate and a copy of your own baptism certificate and submit
it to the parish office.
RCIA
NEW TIMES
The RCIA group will now meet on Friday mornings
between 11am and 12.30pm for the remainder of this year’s group which is
scheduled to finish shortly after Easter.
It will revert to meeting on a Monday evening in
October 2018. The first meeting is on the 5th January.
READERS DAY LEE.
Advance notice:- Lewisham Deanery is holding a
Formation Day for Readers on Saturday 27th January 2018, 9.30am
-1 2.30pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Lee, both experienced and those thinking
about taking on this important Ministry are warmly invited. More information
and booking details closer to the time.
PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES
For anyone who
is interested in coming to Lourdes on the parish Pilgrimage September
7th- -14th
2018 at a cost of £720 and couldn’t come to the information evening last week

CALLING ALL CATHOLIC, LABOUR PARTY SUPPORTERS:
Join
us on Wednesday 24th January, where Catholics for Labour are meeting
for Mass, followed by an 'in conversation and audience Q&A' event with a
leading Catholic, Labour MP to discuss the influence of faith on
policy-making and much more.
Mass will be held at the church of the
Immaculate Conception, Farm Street at 8pm. The 'in conversation'
event will be held at the Audley pub, nearby, at 8:30pm.
Catholics for Labour is a new group,
established at 2017 Labour Party Conference, aimed at those interested in
applying Catholic social teaching to public policy. The group also seeks
to help its members considering participating in public life to pursue
this path.
