CAFOD Family
Fast Day is Friday 15th March, please

about the Family Fast Day.
Lent is a transition time, a time to look honestly at our journey
of faith as we walk with Jesus to the cross.
Jesus’s
wilderness experience was a pivotal moment in his journey and his extended
period of temptation was a profound time, which would determine how he would
move forward. Jesus faced himself, and his willingness to stay true to God’s
path.
·
How can we
allow this Lent period to be a time of looking honestly at our journey of faith
and our willingness to say YES to God.
·
During this
week, take some time to reflect upon the things that fill your heart.
·
Does your
heart belong to God, or are you easily led by other distractions.
·
In what ways
is Jesus your bread of life?
Fasting is a form of Penance. Catholics between
18 and 60 are obliged to Fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Catholics who
have reached the age of 14 are obliged to abstain from eating meat on Ash
Wednesday and the Fridays of Lent.
Pope’s
Lenten Message: “For the creation waits with eager
longing for the revealing of the children of God” (Rom 8:19)
ST
VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY (SVP) COFFEE MORNING – SUNDAY 10th March
Our Holy Cross Parish SVP groups, (Adult
group, Youth SVP and Mini Vinnies) are all volunteers, aiming where we can to
provide practical help, friendship and support. We are entirely
dependant on donations. To boost our funds we have a second collection
after all Masses on the weekend of 9th/10th March, and we
have a coffee morning after the 10 am Mass on Sunday 10th
March. Please do come to support us, gain information about SVP,
learn how you might help - and enjoy some home-made cake.
