OUR PARISH RESPONSE TO COVID 19 PANDEMIC - Updates

  • Dear Parishioner,
I hope and pray you and your family are keeping safe and well. Now we are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we hope and pray that this will be the last lockdown and we shall soon be able to come together to God’s house, as we used to, to thank and praise God. With the decrease in the coronavirus infection rate, I am pleased to announce that our Holy Cross Church will be reopening this coming weekend, Saturday 30th January.

Please note that the Mass times have been reviewed and will be updated as follows (you will see that I am trying to return them closer to their original times)
Weekdays: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 9.15am. No Public Mass on Thursdays Fridays: 6.30pm Adoration & Confessions & 7.00pm Mass
Weekend Masses: Saturday (30/1/21) - 6.30pm - Vigil Mass. Sunday: 9am and 11.30am
All the Masses will be live-streamed:

Please Note: with the new regulations, we will only be able to hold up to 40 people in the church. We shall follow a “First Come, First Served” rule. Since the obligation to participate the Holy Mass on Sundays is still suspended, please consider attending on weekdays with your family members so that those who cannot make it on weekdays can come during the weekends. Please wear a face mask, sanitise your hands and keep a sufficient distance always in the church. Kindly follow the guidance of Welcome Ministers. Looking forward to seeing you.

  • Holy Sacraments at Holy Cross
* From February, classes will be via Zoom.
* From 17th April (after the Easter holidays) we hope to have regular classes at Hartley Hall.
* In October, we shall have the celebrations of the Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation.

  • School Applications:
Fr Antony will be available in the Church every Monday and Friday between 10:00 and 10:15 am to discuss your School Application Supplementary Forms.
Please use the side door adjacent to Holy Cross School [only via Culverley Road entrance], as the main doors of the church will remain locked during the Pandemic.

  • Baptism Preparation Course: As our parish continues to be affected in our usual pastoral activities and sacramental preparation courses, we will be offering an adaptive baptism course via zoom for all parents whose children were baptised last year. The first session will be on Saturday 13th February at 2;30pm and the second session will follow on Saturday 20th February 2020 at 2:30pm. The links will be emailed to all parents who have already been contacted. Future baptism preparation courses will be announced in due course. If you would like to have your child baptised please contact father Anthony.

  • This year’s RCIA program has been running since 14th November 2020, all by Zoom, meeting weekly on Saturdays 7-8.30pm. We have a lovely group of candidates (4), awaiting baptism and catechumens (2) awaiting confirmation. The 2 children in our group have participated very well throughout. Advent weeks were particularly meaningful as we explored our own faith journeys, discussed the Holy Trinity, John the Baptist, Mother Mary and had an overview of the Bible and a session on Prayer. When time permits we also pray with scripture for the last half hour. Our next session is on the Mass and Eucharist and is on this Saturday at 7pm. Anyone interested to join our Catholic faith or to deepen your own faith journeys, please contact Father Antony or the Parish Office.

  • Catechists and Parents, please note: SDC is a Catholic organisation that works in some South London parishes in Southwark mainly in the field of catechesis. Their website contains several resources that can be useful to teachers or catechists working with children or young people. The direct link to the resources section is www.sdc.me.uk/resources. Worksheets are available for Sunday liturgies: www.sdc.me.uk/sundayliturgy.

  • The Holy Mass is offered everyday  via Livestream

  • 9 pm for Night Prayer:We are praying the Night Prayer of the Church every night at 9pm. The link will be sent to you via WhatsApp and Newsletter. Please invite your family also to join. Let us pray together and receive God’s blessings before going to sleep.
