PALM CROSSES
Our Palm Crosses were made by the children in the Special Needs Unit at Ahotokurom, Ghana. The stigma of disability persists and without Ahotokurom these youngsters would not be able to attend school. The people of Ahotokurom remember us in their prayers today and ask you to remember them.

NEW STUDY FOR MOTHERS STARTS ON THE 3RD MAY.
Thursdays 10am-12 midday in Hartley Hall. Letter to Women invites you to explore Pope John Paul II’s 1995 letter to all the women of the world. Written for the occasion of the Fourth United Nations Conference on Women, this letter demonstrates that whenever people gather to discuss what ails humanity, the voice of the Church should be there. This study reaffirms the dignity of all human persons as it upholds the special place women occupy in the family, the Church and the world. Letter to Women is the introductory book that sets the stage for all the outstanding studies in the Endow series.

A WEEKEND OF DISCOVERY FOR MARRIED COUPLES:
You are strongly encouraged and welcomed to enrich your marriage with a Marriage Encounter weekend. This non-residential event, taking place on 28th – 29th April in Purley, Croydon, is aimed at all married couples who have average/good marriages who would like to make them a bit better and stronger. It is designed for couples married a few years or some decades. Those who have attended this weekend in the past have all spoken very highly indeed about the experience. Here is your chance to improve your communication skills, valuing and respecting the gifts each other brings to your marriage. It is of immense value to help in gaining a deeper insight into and understanding of, the Sacrament of Matrimony. Please take a flyer available at the back of the church and see the posters at the back. More details from Deacon Philip and Mary Pond on 020 8651 2477 or E-mail: [email protected]
Gospel Reflection Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion
This weekend we participate in the proclamation of the passion and death of Jesus according to the Gospel of Mark. In the extended version of this weekend’s Gospel reading, Jesus is at Gethsemane, praying to his Father, in much emotional distress. He knows he can save himself. He can escape over the Mount of Olives in the dead of night and make his way safely into the Judean desert. Instead, Jesus chooses obedience to his Father and waits for his persecutors. As Saint Paul puts it in the second reading, Jesus is “obedient to the point of death.” Jesus’ obedience is a lesson for those who are good stewards of their life in Christ. Let us reflect on how we might be more obedient to the will of God instead of our own will.
Were you there when you crucified your Lord
Where are you now ?
