GENERAL DATA PROTECTION
REGULATION.
As
you may all be aware there is new legislation coming into force on 25th
May 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation, which is going to impact on
all of us. One of the responsibilities we will now have to undertake is
to know who has access to the personal information we hold in the parish.
A great number of you currently volunteer for the parish or may have done so in
the past and may have some personal information at your home in a file and/or
on a PC or laptop. Please could you let the parish secretary know if this
applies to you so that we can let you know what actions you will need to take
going forward. The Archbishop is encouraging all of us to help implement
these changes. Thank you in advance for your co-operation.
You
will also notice some changes over the coming weeks in the Parish Newsletter;
particularly in Mass intentions, and our list of the sick and those visited by
Special Ministers with Holy Communion. This is because we will need the
permission from the person concerned to list their name.
When
the Parish Census takes place we hope to get permission from parishioners to
ensure that we can continue with our usual parish activities, at the same time
complying with the new legislation.
Pentecost
Sunday May
19/20, 2018
Today
we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit, the birth of the Church and the beginning
of its mission in the world. Pentecost Sunday reminds us that our lives are filled
with the Holy Spirit and God has accomplished creative things in us through
this gift. We have been entrusted with this great gift of the Holy Spirit. Now
is a good time to ask: Are we being good stewards of this gift? What creative
things have we done to glorify God’s accomplishments in us?
