Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA): Journey in Faith This is the process by which one can become a Catholic Christian. It can lead to the sacraments of initiation ie Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. The preparation course normally starts in September and “ends” at Pentecost each year, meeting weekly. The course covers the core elements of our faith ie the Creed, the sacramental life, a period of Enlightenment and purification, which involves self reflection and increasing knowledge of self in the light of Christ, and finally after receiving the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Eucharist at Easter, a period of deepening faith through experience of the power of the Holy Spirit through the sacraments. Prayer and interior discernment of the Holy Spirit runs through the whole process. Attendance at each Saturday evening/Sunday Mass will help your faith development. The journey during RCIA is but a small part of your faith journey, which started well before you come to us and continues throughout your lifetime. It is a journey of growth and development, a vocation in becoming imitators of Christ. Life will never be the same again! You will see here a sample slide pack which will give you a taste of the sessions. Reading through without commentary has limitations but it gives you a flavour. Each session is different and led by different speakers. We are usually a small group of no more than 10-12 people who get to know each other over a few months and journey together. There is usually time for discussion and questions.
