Today’s Gospel gives us a salutary lesson. Jesus identifies Martha's problem as anxiety - that is directed in being “anxious about many things.” We, like Martha, need to not be so anxious about things.

Today our role as ‘listening disciples’ is muddied by work, homemaking, raising children and myriad other distractions. We need a balance in life. We need to slow down and listen to Jesus’ words and deeds, not be distracted and then bring the understanding of this into our daily lives and everything we do. The Holy Mass, prayer times, retreats...are times to be with Jesus Christ and to listen to Him

  • BLESSING OF CHILDREN: It being the last Sunday in this School Year, we will offer special prayers for our children and bless them. Please bring them to Mass this weekend.

  • Poverty and Pandemic Relief Fund There are a number of requests to help and support poor families within our parish community at this time of financial difficulty. One of the best ways to support them is to give them Gift Cards. If you are happy to help, please buy them in Tesco or Iceland. You can pop the gift card into the box kept in front of the Marian Chapel marked ‘Poverty and Pandemic Relief Fund’.

  • FOOD BANK: Whitefoot and Downham food project is looking for volunteers to help support households in need. They are looking for volunteer drivers for Thursdays 12-5pm to collect surplus food from a store in Grove Park and Sydenham. They also need volunteer packers for Thursdays 2-6pm and to help during the foodbank’s opening hours 6.30-9pm. This can be weekly or fortnightly, and you'll be supported by a friendly team of other volunteers. We are looking at whether there are other ways we might be able to support the foodbank as a Parish. In the meantime, if you are interested in volunteering with them, please contact [email protected] or find out more about the project at

  • School Signing In: If you have children of school age who require a parish priest reference for their school application, please note that from Saturday 21st May you will need to complete the signing in sheets that will be available at the school side entrance only, every week after
