In today’s Gospel we see the only recorded time that Jesus’ disciples asked Jesus for instruction. They asked him to teach them to pray. Jesus provided them with an “all-purpose” prayer. It was one they could pray alone or together, in good times and in bad. A prayer for all seasons.
In the second part of the Gospel we see Jesus’ insistence on persistence in prayer. Why do we need to repeat our requests? Delay in receiving a positive answer gently pushes us to rethink what we pray for. We may need to amend our prayer to what will be better in the bigger picture. Let’s never mindlessly, rattle off this precious prayer. Let’s try always to pray this prayer attentively, from our hearts.

- Film THE TWO POPES will be shown on Monday 25th at 6:30pm in Hartley Hall. Tea and Coffee will be available. We will have a time for socialising. Many thanks to Gracey George .
- Repository (church shop) We will be opening the church shop after all weekend Masses, and are looking for a responsible person from each Mass to run it. If you are interested and are able to help please contact Gracey George or Fr Antony.
- FOOD BANK: Whitefoot and Downham food project is looking for volunteers to help support households in need. They are looking for volunteer drivers for Thursdays 12-5pm to collect surplus food from a store in Grove Park and Sydenham. They also need volunteer packers for Thursdays 2-6pm and to help during the foodbank’s opening hours 6.30-9pm. This can be weekly or fortnightly, and you'll be supported by a friendly team of other volunteers. We are looking at whether there are other ways we might be able to support the foodbank as a Parish. In the meantime, if you are interested in volunteering with them, please contact [email protected] or find out more about the project at http://wdcfplus.org.uk/.
- School Signing In: If you have children of school age who require a parish priest reference for their school application, please note that from Saturday 21st May you will need to complete the signing in sheets that will be available at the school side entrance only, every week after
- Application Forms – 2022/23: The application forms for First Holy Communion, Confirmation and RCIA for next year, will be available from Monday 23rd May. Please collect the forms you require from Fr Antony after any of the weekday Masses. The deadline to submit your application form will be 25th July. All programmes are due to start in September 2022.
